The Monorail company was started in 1995 by Douglas "Doug" Johns, along with David Hocker and Nicholas Forlenza, all who came from the Compaq computer company.

By the end of 1996, they had designed, manufactured, and sold their first computer - the Monorail model 7245 - possibly the first desktop with an integrated LCD monitor, known as an all-in-one system.

Although initially only sold at CompUSA, and did quite well, Monorail was eventually sold at other national retail chains such as Circuit City, Egghead Computer, and mail-order warehouse Micro Warehouse.

By 1998, the Monorail all-in-ones were gone, and now with a new logo, Monorail started selling standard desk-top and tower systems with separate CRT monitors.
